Recreation Ministry

Our purpose is to offer recreational programs, activities for children and youth, a variety of on-going health and fitness classes as well as various social activities during the year. While all of our events are designed to promote health, fitness, and fun, our main objective is to reach out in the name of Christ to the community. This ministry provides a safe, relaxing way to invite others to join in the fellowship and love of Jesus Christ.

Recreation Ministries is not just about sports, so don't worry if you're not the "athletic" type; get involved! While all of our programs are different, we are the same in that our main goal is to serve Jesus Christ and to be Christ-like in all we do.

If you are sports-minded and would like to see a new program started, chances are there is someone else interested too. We welcome your ideas or suggestions and invite you to join our ministry team!

Upward Unlimited is a national children's sports program designed to give children and their families a positive sports experience by partnering with local churches to promote character, self esteem, and salvation through sports ministries. First United Methodist Church has provided our community with a Basketball program for three years now, the first Upward Basketball league in our area! The purpose of Upward Unlimited is to recognize the winner in every child by offering a competitive, non-threatening environment where every participant gets equal playing time. Adult Co-ed Volleyball - plays at the Family Life Center Gymnasium every Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. Individuals, couples, as well as full teams are welcome to join in the fun. Contact the church office for more details.

Senior Adult Exercise, every Tues. & Thurs., 9:00-9:45 a.m., FLC gym, led by Jennifer Stevens.

Softball leagues, Bowling, Basketball League, Open hoops night - are all possibilities - you make it happen!
