The
music ministry at First United Methodist Church is a vital and
important dimension in the life of the church. Our music program
seeks to
glorify God through the use of vocal and instrumental music and
liturgical dance. We provide all styles and genres of music to make
the worship experience as meaningful as possible. We believe that
music is important in the life of each person, family, the
congregation, and especially during times of worship. Our music
staff includes talented leaders whose combined talents brings
together many years of experience in sacred music. We define the
purpose of our music ministry as,
Ed C. Gibson IV, is from Houston, and recently graduated from SMU
with a Master of Sacred Music. He received his Bachelor of Arts in
Music with a minor in Religious Studies from TSU in San Marcos. Ed
feels honored to have the opportunity to serve in the Waxahachie
community. His father and grandfather were born in Waxahachie, and
the community knew his great-grandfather as Professor Gibson. Prior
to serving FUMC Waxahachie, Ed served as the Choir Director of
Munger Place UMC in Dallas.
Ed will be serving in a full time capacity which is great news for
all of us, as we seek to expand the music department. We welcome Ed,
his joyful personality, and his God given gifts that he will share
with our congregation with the goal of praising God.
We will have a reception for Ed on Feb. 18th after the 10:45
service, to welcome him and let everyone get a chance to meet him as
well.
