Our church family reaches out to the local and world community. We serve and share through many different helping agencies and special projects. Each month an offering is taken at the communion rail for several mission projects and UM Agencies. Each summer, a number of our youth and adults participate in mission trips, giving their time and talents to work with the disabled, elderly, and under-privileged. The past three years they have traveled out of state to take part in projects that provide them an opportunity to live their faith in action.
Outreach is an important part of our ministry at FirstUMC - Waxahachie. From ushers and greeters making you feel welcome when you visit, to mission teams spreading the word of God, we want to reach out to others. We invite you to take time to look at all the areas of outreach we participate in. Mary Brownlee is stepping down from her role as Missions Chair to take a part-time Pastor's position at Bristol UMC. The newly re-formed Committee will be electing a new Chairperson to take the helm and lead them on. Come for a lite lunch and hear their plans for creating an active and vital Missions Ministry for our church.
- The United Methodist Church speaks of Mission as providing ministry to a particular group or region whose needs cannot be met fully within the existing structures of the church. To these ends FUMC of Waxahachie has been most lovingly generous. From the 100 plus adults and youth who participate in construction and cleanup trips each year to the outpouring of support from the adult Sunday School classes the hands and feet of Christ are working in the world today. Your Mission Committee has been conducting an inventory of just what we have been doing in hopes of sharing that with you and planning intentional expansion of that generous spirit. We hope to share that over the next weeks. It is enough to say that 19 groups other than through our apportionments are supported through the Sunday Schools with 14 of them being local to Waxahachie, 3 more in Texas and 2 international.
