First United Methodist Church Music Ministry

The music ministry at First United Methodist Church is a vital and important dimension in the life of the church. Our music program seeks to glorify God through the use of vocal and instrumental music and liturgical dance. We provide all styles and genres of music to make the worship experience as meaningful as possible. We believe that music is important in the life of each person, family, the congregation, and especially during times of worship. Our music staff includes talented leaders whose combined talents brings together many years of experience in sacred music.

Chancel Choir

Our Chancel Choir consists of a variety of people who sing a variety of sacred music. Currently they provide music and help lead congregational singing for the 11:00a.m. service and occasionally the 8:30a.m. service. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7p.m. to 8:30p.m. from the end of August to the first week of July. New members are always welcome and you do not have to know how to read music to join.

Disciples Children’s Choir
1st through 6th Grade

This group rehearses regularly on Sundays from 5p.m. to 5:45p.m. in room 215.
They have an advantage of not only learning how to lead worship though song, but they are also receiving a quality music education. Disciples participate in worship once a month during the fall and spring and put on a musical at the end of the spring. During the summer months Disciples do not meet.

Glory Ringers

The Glory Ringers are a polished bell choir beginning with high school students through adults. They rehearse from the end of August to the beginning of June, on Mondays from 7p.m. to 8p.m., and participate monthly in all three worship services. New members are always welcome and encouraged to participate.

Redeemed

We are blessed to encounter one of the most outstanding praise teams in Ellis County. This ensemble consists of several talented musicians gifted in keyboard, percussion, voice, and guitar. Redeemed rehearses on Wednesdays from 7p.m. to 8p.m. and they lead worship at the 9:45a.m. service in the Family Life Center.

JOY (Just Older Youth) Singers

This group of volunteers spends time singing hymns on Tuesdays, from 2p.m. to 2:45p.m. with those who live in assisted living facilities. First and third Tuesdays are spent at Renfro and second and fourth Tuesdays are spent at Pleasant Manor. Fifth Tuesdays are spent at Covenant Place. All of these facilities are located in Waxahachie.

Organist, Roy Pompa
Roy's Notes: We have heard the beautiful music Roy plays on the church organ, we have seen his smiling face, now we can read some of his thoughts he would like to share to enhance our music experience during worship. What a blessing it is to have Roy with us and know his heart is really in the work he does to glorify God!

Instrumental and Vocal Ensembles
These groups are formed throughout the year to enhance or provide special music.

New Creation Signers
This group is comprised of Youth who enjoy showing God's Word through sign language & music.

Sacred Dancers
