Global Missions
We have all heard the quote: "The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing."
The main thing for us, according to scripture is to glorify God and worship Him forever. What brings Him glory? He is honored as we "declare His glory" to the ends of the earth, to those who need to know of His love through Jesus Christ. Through our loving obedience to the Great Commission, both in the local context as well as global, He calls forth "a people for His name" from every tribe, tongue and nation. Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Our prayer is that our church takes this commission seriously not only on a local level but on a global level as well. In our Lord's parting words, He gives to the church His final marching orders. If we are going to walk in His steps, then we must give the highest priority to the fulfillment of this Great Commission.
Missionary Support
The Outreach Team at First United Methodist Church is to know and make known the God who changes lives through Jesus Christ in areas outside of the United States and Mexico. This is accomplished through our covenant partnerships with United Methodist Global Board of Ministries Missionaries. It is through these partnerships and by developing others that the congregation of First United Methodist Church is takes the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
